18 Barbers was founded after we noticed that many Dutch barbershops often miss a broader customer experience.

How did 18 Barbers begin?

18 Barbers Leiden was founded by Daan and officially opened on February 15, 2023.
Two months later, Valentijn joined the team in Leiden. After a successful collaboration between Daan and Valentijn, Valentijn became co-owner on January 1, 2025.
Together they decided to expand their vision to Haarlem. In April 2025, 18 Barbers Haarlem opened its doors.

Wie is Miechell?

I was born in Paramaribo and stayed there until I was eight. After that, I moved to The Hague, and these days I often travel to the center of Leiden for work.

I’ve been working as a barber for more than nine years — a master of skin fades and beard styling. Thanks to my training and experience cutting women’s hair, I’m also skilled with longer hairstyles.

Every haircut and beard treatment starts with a thorough consultation so I can create a style that truly fits you and your preferences. My steady hand and sharp eye never fail to impress my clients.

You’ll immediately feel at home after a relaxing head massage while your hair is being washed.

Who is Jordy?

Hey! I’m Jordy, born and raised in Velserbroek. My passion for the craft began at home, where I spent years cutting hair for friends and acquaintances. To further develop my skills, I then started working in a barbershop. Three years later, I can now proudly call myself a versatile barber.

Who is Milan?

Oioi! I’m Milan, 28 years old and proud resident of the always lively Alphen aan den Rijn (you know, that town where you either get lost or never leave).

I’ve been a barber for five years, and that’s no coincidence — cutting hair is my passion. Give me a pair of scissors and some hair, and I’ll turn you from “just rolled out of bed” into “hey, look at that guy!” There’s nothing better than seeing someone leave my chair feeling confident and sharp.

What drives me? Meeting new people, having good conversations (about football, festivals, or why pineapple does belong on pizza), and having fun in my work. Because when you’re happy with your haircut, I’m raising my scissors like a true hair hero.

On weekends, you’ll find me cruising with friends on the water — beer in hand, sunglasses on, not a single hair thinking about staying inside. Or raving at a techno festival until sunrise. Though I’ll admit — a quiet night with some country music and a cold cola is just as good.

Oh, and one more thing… I’ve got quite a sneaker collection. Some call it an addiction; I call it an investment in foot happiness. Travis Scotts, Jordans, Yeezys — my shoe closet could easily be a museum.

Hey, my name is Jules. I’m 24 years old and I live in the Haarlem area. I’ve always been a creative soul, but I never quite knew how to express it—until I picked up a pair of scissors. I was hooked instantly. I’ve been in the hair industry for six years now, four of which I’ve spent as a barber. Thanks to my experience with long hair, I can confidently say it’s one of my specialties.

Who is Thomas?

Hi, I’m Thomas, 17 years old, and I work as a barber at 18 Barbers. I’m currently following the barber training program, which means combining work and study — something I truly enjoy.

My passion for this craft started when I got a side job at 18 Barbers. Seeing the motivation and skill of my colleagues inspired me.

I love interacting with people. When I’m not cutting hair, you can usually find me on the football field or having a drink with friends on the weekend. Working with my colleagues is always fun — we laugh a lot, but we also work hard. I hope to see you in the shop soon!

From a young age, I’ve had an eye for style — not just in clothes or shoes, but especially in haircuts. I found it fascinating how a clean fade or sharp line could instantly boost someone’s confidence. What started as curiosity turned into a true passion, and I’m now bringing that passion to life during my barber training.

My name is Ismael, I’m 17 years old, and I’m a junior barber with one clear goal: to not only make people look better but also feel better. For me, this profession is about more than just cutting hair. It’s about attention, precision, trust and communication. I love a good chat — sit in my chair, get a fresh fade and a free therapy session while you’re at it.

My dream? Owning my own barbershop one day — a place where people don’t just come for a haircut, but for the full experience. A place where style, quality and hospitality come together. I’m still young, but one thing I know for sure: this is my path.

I’m Daan, a junior barber and proud member of 18 Barbers since September.

After a year of focused training and perfecting my skills, it’s time to put them into practice. My goal: to make sure you leave the shop with a fresh look and a great feeling.

For me, being a barber isn’t just about cutting and shaving — it’s about the complete picture: attention, style and a result we can both be proud of.

Outside of the shop, you’ll often find me in the gym or in nature. Sometimes gaming, often with friends, and always busy with my passion for fashion and style.

Who is Leon?

I’m Leon, 17 years old, and cutting hair is my passion. It all started when I used to go to the barber myself and watched videos online thinking, “I can do that too.” I began cutting friends’ hair, and even though it was harder than I expected, the more I practiced, the more I loved it. That’s when I knew — this is what I want to do.

Besides cutting hair, I’m also into boxing. The discipline, focus and perseverance I learn from that sport, I bring with me behind the chair. What I love most about being a barber? Making people feel good and seeing them walk out with a fresh look.

I’m Jimmy, an easy-going, relaxed lad from Manchester. After traveling and living in countless countries, I’m proud to call the Netherlands my forever home!

To me, barbering isn’t just a job; it’s my passion. I love meeting new people, having a good laugh, and sharing great conversations, all while giving you a haircut that makes you feel confident and good about yourself. I enjoy it when clients become friends and always look forward to our monthly catch-ups.

Who is Valentijn?

I’m Valentijn Vroegop, a passionate barber originally from Boskoop. My journey started when I was 14 and my aunt asked me, ‘Ever thought about cutting hair?’ After I was allowed to buzz a few friends’ heads, my passion for the craft was born.

In 2021, I graduated from the Nederlandse Kappersacademie. After working at 18 Barbers for a year, I was offered the chance to become a co-owner—an opportunity I definitely couldn’t pass up! When I’m not behind the chair, you can find me at the gym, grabbing a beer with mates on the weekends, or at a festival. I love working in the city; the hustle and bustle here is a great change of pace from quiet Boskoop.

Born and raised in Haarlem, I spent two years working in Leiden before opening my own shop. I wanted to bring my vision back home — so we opened a second 18 Barbers location in Haarlem.
